'Getting There'

Still travelling by bus/metro to get to work, other times we walk. The obvious and only sane option is to buy a bicycle which will be taken care off wihtin the nextcoming days. It's also what hits you first on arrival; bicycle/biking culture having such a strong presence in Copenhagen, and apparently in Denmark as a whole. Copenhagenize and Copenhagen Cycle Chic are two great websites dedicated to Copenhagen bicycle culture. There should also be linkage to fixie sites/forum and Flickr pools here.

Music? Still 'stuck' housin' things.

'Good hard 10-minute drive, makes me want to listen to Moodymann, not Roy Ayers.'
(edit: I've more or less developed a crack addict to this track. Works every time. Also, apparently Henrik Schwarz has compiled a nice selection as part of the DJ Kicks-series. Checking up on that next.)

'All The Bright Lights In The World'

I won't waste too many words on this, since words should not be the storyteller regarding this little set-up I've decided to create.  I've also said this before but visuals and images is a really powerful tool to create sentiments and for a long time regarding the internet it has somewhat been neglected and not used well enough. On a personal level; I'm gaining a tremendous amount of further knowledge regarding the subjects and objects that catches my attention from checking up on different sites and whatnot. I'm also finding out that it's a great way for me to keep my visual perception in shape (context, composition, color...), and also to stay on point regarding contemporary & popular culture. So, if you're into good (dare, i say great?) images of fashion, arts, architecture, quotes, cityscapes, moments, movie captures, (my) peoples - Mark Gonzalez, Stefano Pilati, Toshiro Mifune, Marvin Hagler, lovely girls & all the other bright lights in the world - please come by and visit. An update will be made roughly every third week including a sweet instrumental and some additional linkage.

ALL THE BRIGHT LIGHTS IN THE WORLD

Stuck On Repeat Week 37:

'Get This Thing Down' - Olympic Runners (1975)

'Ayatollah' - Jackie Mittoo (early 80's)

'Shopkeeper Disco Muxtape'

ADF/Shopkeeper Muxtape May 2008
Not really sure how and when I got stuck in this disco voodoo-swamp but it's all I've been listening to lately. I'm suspecting this malady to be over soon but it's been rather pleasant. Sort of like an itch, a good one which mean I'm more than happy to pass along the experience. Sharing some viral vibe; muxtapin' - discostyle.

'Waste'

Wtf is up with this? I can't decide if I find this disruptive or just really annoying. Artschool really messed me up about the cruciality of execution and detailing so I'm definitely sensitive to these things. Well, atleast on certain days. This is such a day since I was supposed to sit down and enjoy my last cup of coffeebuzz for quite awhile. And I'm definitely Jan Chipchasing here but the experience of getting ready to get my drink on and discovering the cheapness of having it served in a papercup mushed down into papercup number two, evoked a sensation of being offered fluid leftovers from a neighbouring table. It kind of made me wonder the point in even caring with branded flashy logotypes and expensive leather chairs if you can't even offer customers a decent experience of your supposedly premium product.

Luckily Mr. Nesta, as always brings musical remedy:

Samma kväll spelade Spankrock på Rodeos hipster happening på Kulturhuset men dom 18åriga electrochicksen i Cazals och bambooearrings längst fram vid scenen vill ikväll helst av allt höra:

'Thicker Than Water'

Thicker Than Water

Musiken är ganska typisk (medioker) men 'Even After All' borde vara obligatoriskt surfsoundtrack.

*Even after all
Man just feel satisfied
No competition, no competition at all
I just feel satta star
Them eyes are gorgeous girl
No demise
Uprise
I got to raise it again
Them eyes are gorgeous
I must advance
I don't check for no superficial
It's got to be beneficial*

'Jazz & Books'

Second-hand bookstore, Banglamphu district, Bangkok.

Current state: Jazz & books.

Embedded within backpacker trails for my remaining stay in Asia; recuperating from this brickheavy lot of off-road companionship. My Bourdieu and Manuel Castells obsession will probably be dealt with sometime again but for the moment I feel way too overloaded on information technology and identity 'habitus' to deal with further theorizing. Increasingly interesting but as far as I dare to say, it's obvious. The connection of personal consumption patterns (music, literature, movies, experienceassets...) and self-expressive mediainstruments is the way to go. I would like to think I'm atleast pointing my finger in the right direction so I'm also mentioning the semantic web for good evidence measure. However, for now I'm done with the books, subjects and obsessions I brought along and instead steadily re-programming with a newly acquired second-hand copy of 'Chasin The Trane'.

'New Reality'

Kevin Lyons has done some great works for Stussy, Huf, aNYthing and others over the years and there's always a twist to his designs. I found this Natural Born tee buried way down in a drawer and although I had almost forgot about it, it's actually one of my favorite prints. A simple solution with substance so profound that it can create friends (or enemies) in an instant. A lot of feeling and it's impossible not to take a stand when wearing this print. Social commentaries on t-shirts nowadays have sort of lost its edge but this one can not be mistaken. The reference is spot on; George L. Jackson:

'We must accept the eventuality of bringing the U.S.A to its knees; accept the closing off of critical sections of the city with barbed wire, armored pig carriers crisscrossing the streets, soldiers everywhere, tommy guns pointed at stomach level, smoke curling black against the daylight sky, the smell of cordite, house-to-house searches, doors being kicked in, the commonness of death.'
